On the square sits a kitchen and accessories store with everything you could imagine. Feel instantly welcome by some of the friendliest staff around.
Located just off the square downtown is 3 stories of nooks and crannies chocked full of gems. A great place to kill an hour or two with a coffee.
A Bloomington institution for over 50 years, Ben worked here for three years following the pandemic. It's full of great people and even better clothing and gear.
Indiana's oldest and largest winery has a tasting room just North of town that you'll see from the highway on your way into Bloomington. They have a garden with a pond nestled in the rolling hills of Southern Indiana perfect for a picnic. Sample some of their Creekbend label which is made with Indiana grown grapes.
A Bloomington staple and personal favorite of Jenny's dad Phil.
A great trail only a few miles south of Bloomington. It has enough twists and loops to range anywhere from 3 to 7 miles without having to get too far into the woods. BUT if you do feel like getting lost in the woods, Hoosier National Forest starts just on the other side the bridge and Lake Monroe that the Pate Hollow Trailhead sits at the edge of.
Ben, Jenny and Georgia spent many Sunday mornings getting breakfast and coffee at Inkwell before Ben would go to work down the block at JL Waters. Try The Weekly or The Broken Yolk Special (sub the sourdough for and english muffin and maybe splurge for bacon or avocado).
Owned by the same family from BuffaLouie's is the best place to get a bagel in Bloomington.
Come for the atmosphere, stay for the wings. BuffaLouie's unique building gives you a glimpse to the storied history of IU athletics.
Ben spent many nights after work at The Orbit Room as it is located right next door to JL Waters. Great spot for a hot dog, pinball, and a beer.
Bloomington's definitive dive bar. Play some pool, darts, or crush a pitcher of PBR (and maybe a shot or two of tequila) as Ben did many nights with his coworkers Hannah and Jasmine. You'll also get a glimpse another cornerstone of Bloomington in Mike the doorman upon your arrival at the top of the stairs.
Running a long a former rail line, the B-Line Trail runs North to South behind the downtown for 3 miles. If you are staying in the hotel block at the Hyatt, the trail is just behind the hotel. You'll find coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and Switchyard Park are all easily accessible on this paved path.
